BIO
Fashion photographer Tim Petersen was virtually born into the photography business, having been raised in Germany where his father ran a successful studio in the young and emerging fashion photo industry of the 60s and 70s. It was there that Petersen’s passion grew into a career, opening his first studio at the age of 22. Even then, his classic yet innovated and beauty-oriented style was obvious and achieved instant recognition.
Germany quickly became too small for his ambitions and he moved to New York City, where he became deeply engaged into the fashion underground magazine scene of the 90’s. The turning point of his career was the publication of his version of a fashionable Tamara De Lempicka in Blackbook Magazine. Following that publication, Petersen’s name began circling the fashion circles of New York City.
Since then, Petersen has continued his work with major editorial and advertising campaigns. Additionally, he is currently collaborating with artists like Martin Abrahams and Rebecca Sommer, as well as a full body of work with fashion icon Carmen Dell’Orefice, including images for her life time photo book currently scheduled for release later this year.
Petersen currently resides in New York City.
